Indian casinos hit the jackpot
Article Abstract:
The largest of Minnesota's gambling centers are owned by 11 sovereign Native American nations. The right to operate these casinos were granted to the North American nations to stimulate economic growth in these regions. However, these casinos have had certain adverse social side effects for native Americans.

The Cross Lake Cree tribe in nothern Manitoba are seeking compensation from utility Manitoba Hydro, alleging the company has destroyed their environment and livelihoods. The Crees are also lobbying Northern States Power Co to source its electricity elsewhere.
